JANET ENZMANN ARCHIVES
& RESEARCH LIBRARY
A very important part of what we do is to serve as stewards of the written
and photographic history of Island County. The Janet Enzmann Archives
and Research Library was organized and “brought into the 20th century”
by our beloved volunteer, Janet Enzmann. Janet spent thousands of
hours making our archival collections organized and accessible to our
public – and for this, we have memorialized our Library and Archives in her honor and memory.
Our Archives is always being improved and updated – because history never stops! It is a valuable resource for family historians, scholars, and students. Among the holdings of our archival collections are Island County diaries and journals, land claim records, thousands of newspapers, obituaries, rare history books, aerial photos, maps, event posters, videos, oral histories – and of course – thousands of photographs, from dugout canoes to modern fighter jets! For reference, a guide to our archives record groups is available as an ATTACHMENT.
