Safety Guidelines

Welcome to the Island County Historical Museum!

By visiting ICHSM you agree to release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue ICHSM or its affiliated entities, directors, board members, employees, staff, members, volunteers, vendors, agents, representatives, attorneys, predecessors, successors and assigns (collectively, “Releasees”) from any and all liability for any loss or damage, and any claim or demands, for any and all injuries incurred while visiting or participating in any ICHSM activity, whether or not caused by the negligence of the Releasees. You further agree to indemnify and hold harmless ICHSM and the Releasees against any and all claims, causes of action or lawsuits, for liability, damages, compensation or otherwise brought by you or anyone on your behalf, including any attorneys’ fees or related costs or medical bills or costs which may arise related to your visit to ICHSM or participation in any ICHSM activity.

General Code of Conduct

  • Be kind. Share the space by being respectful and courteous to others around you. Please do not touch any exhibit.

  • ICHSM is not responsible for personal items brought into the museum and is not responsible for loss or damage of belongings.

  • All guests must comply with safety policies and staff instructions. We expect guests to respect ICHSM staff and other visitors. Our Staff will not tolerate inappropriate behavior or abusive, demeaning, foul, or harassing language. Failure to comply with these policies may result in being asked to leave with no refund of any donations or payments.  

  • No alcohol, smoking, tobacco or cannabis product of any kind are permitted on ICHSM property. Use of electronic cigarettes is not permitted on the property.

  • Firearms, knives, or weapons of any kind are prohibited.

  • We reserve the right to prohibit any guest activity that we determine may be harmful or disruptive at any time.

Supervision

  • Parents/caregivers are responsible for the behavior of their children at all times (and all ages) and will be held liable for any damage/broken items their party causes while in the museum.

  • Children must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver at all times indoors and outdoors while visiting the museum.

  • Child drop-offs are NOT permitted.

Service Animals

  • No dogs or pets are allowed at ICHSM.  Only trained ADA service animals that are individually trained to perform work or tasks for a person with a disability.

Visitors

Business visitors must check in at the front desk upon arrival.

Photography

  • Entry to ICHSM constitutes consent for the museum to photograph, video, or record your image and voice for promotional or other museum purposes without compensation.

  • Photography/video is used for museum Marketing purposes ONLY.

  • Please inform ICHSM staff if you prefer not to be photographed.

Food

  • Food/snacks/drink  are not permitted in the exhibit spaces at any time.

Sick Policy

  • Stay home if you are ill. For the safety of our guests individuals showing signs of illness will be asked to leave and visit at another time.
