Grand Opening “Native Species” Exhibit

Grand Opening

We are excited to announce the grand opening of our newest exhibit on April 20, 2024 from 3-6PM. The new “Native Species” exhibit is an extension of our “Native People, Native Places” exhibit in the lower portion of the museum.

Fun for the whole family! The exhibit showcases the flora and fauna of Island County and how Coast Salish people used the plants and animals in their lifestyle. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 3:15, and a native blessing will follow by the Vice Chair of the Snohomish Tribal Council.

There will be a scavenger hunt for the kids, music, food and drinks, a naming contest for the fawn in the woodland exhibit, and the museum will be open for people to wander after hours.

The event will also mark the debut of the museum's new tour app, which will allow visitors to hear music, watch videos, and listen to audio of information about the new exhibit. Bring headphones to listen. Admission is by donation.
